Job summary

Lexel Systems in Auckland, New Zealand is seeking an experienced Platform and Security Solution Architect for a senior contract role. You will work across cloud infrastructure, enterprise networking, cyber security and architecture advisory, delivering clear recommendations and roadmaps.

Immediate focus includes leading an options assessment for Security Data Lake capabilities, evaluating AWS Security Lake, Microsoft Sentinel and Databricks, and guiding migration of on-premises systems to AWS.

Qualifications

• Experience architecting migrations to AWS from on‑prem infrastructure.
• Experience designing core cloud infrastructure in AWS (AD, DNS, VPCs, firewalls, identity services).
• Experience with security monitoring, telemetry and log management across cloud/hybrid environments.
• Experience undertaking options analysis for SIEM or Security Data Lake platforms.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation with technical and executive audiences.

• Balance architectural, operational, financial and security considerations when making recommendations

The opportunity We are looking for an experienced Platform and Security Solution Architect to support several upcoming pieces of AWS platform and security work.

This is a senior contract role requiring someone who can work across cloud infrastructure, enterprise networking, cyber security and architecture advisory.

You will engage with business and technical stakeholders, coordinate across internal teams and external providers, and produce clear architecture recommendations and implementation roadmaps.

An immediate focus will be leading an options assessment for Security Data Lake capabilities. This will include evaluating AWS Security Lake, Microsoft Sentinel, Databricks and alternative approaches. Direct experience with every product is not required, but you will need the architecture experience and analytical capability to assess the options and develop a well-supported recommendation.

Experience we’re looking for

• Experience architecting and delivering migrations of on-premises infrastructure, applications and services to AWS
• Experience designing core cloud infrastructure and platform services in AWS, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, virtual networking, firewalls, identity services and security controls
• Experience with AWS Direct Connect, network service providers such as Megaport, hybrid connectivity patterns and enterprise network architecture
• Strong understanding of zoned security architecture, zero trust principles, identity-centric security models and cloud security best practice
• Experience designing or evaluating security monitoring, security telemetry and log management platforms across cloud and hybrid environments
• Experience undertaking options analysis for SIEM, SecOps, Security Data Lake or comparable security platforms
• Understanding of cyber security operational processes, including threat detection, incident response, security monitoring, vulnerability management and forensic investigation requirements
• Experience with data platforms, data ingestion pipelines, retention strategies, classification models and integration patterns for security or operational data
• Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
• The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and executive audiences
• Experience coordinating multiple vendors, service providers and internal delivery teams
• Strong architecture documentation and presentation skills

You do not need experience with every technology listed. We are looking for someone with the broader platform and security architecture capability to assess the environment, evaluate the available options and develop practical recommendations.
