Job summary

RWA People in Auckland seeks a senior architect to translate strategy into scalable, secure solution architectures. You will lead enterprise integration and promote API-first, event-driven approaches across APIs, messaging, data integration and hybrid connectivity.

You will work with technical teams and stakeholders to establish reusable patterns, create roadmaps, and ensure architectural governance, security, performance and operability across solutions.

Job description

This is a senior architecture role focused on translating business strategy and technology requirements into practical, scalable, secure and supportable solution architectures. You will work across a broad range of digital initiatives, providing architecture leadership from initial concept and design through to implementation and operational transition.

You will also have a strong focus on enterprise integration, helping establish and evolve reusable architecture patterns across APIs, messaging, event-driven architecture, data integration and hybrid connectivity.

What you'll be doing

• Develop and maintain solution architectures aligned with enterprise architecture principles, technology standards and strategic objectives.
• Contribute to the evolution of solution architecture strategy and technology roadmaps.
• Establish and promote reusable architecture patterns, design principles and technical standards.
• Define and guide enterprise integration approaches including API, messaging, event-driven, data and hybrid integration.
• Provide architecture assurance throughout the delivery lifecycle, identifying technical risks, dependencies and technical debt early.
• Evaluate technology and solution options, clearly communicating trade-offs and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.
• Ensure solutions address key non-functional requirements including security, resilience, performance, availability, recoverability and operational supportability.
• Promote API-first, loosely coupled and event-driven architecture principles.
• Identify opportunities to simplify application landscapes and increase reuse of shared platforms, APIs and enterprise capabilities.
• Work closely with infrastructure, development, data, cyber security and delivery teams to ensure solutions are practical and aligned to enterprise standards.
• Support the successful transition of solutions into operational environments.

What we're looking for

You will be an experienced architect with a strong background in designing and delivering enterprise-scale technology solutions. You will be comfortable operating at both strategic and practical levels and able to work effectively with technical teams, senior stakeholders and delivery partners.

Ideally, You Will Bring

• 10+ years' experience in the digital/technology sector, including at least 5 years in solution architecture, technical leadership or a related enterprise technology role.
• Demonstrated experience defining enterprise solution and integration architectures.
• Strong experience developing reusable API and integration patterns.
• Knowledge of Azure and Microsoft-based technology ecosystems.
• Experience with APIs, messaging, event-driven architecture, data integration and hybrid connectivity.
• Experience contributing to architecture governance, technology strategy and roadmaps.
• Strong understanding of security, resilience, performance, availability and operational supportability.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capability, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or a related discipline.
• Azure Architect and/or TOGAF certification would be highly regarded.
