Job summary

Selwyn District Council is seeking a Planning Technician to provide planning information and support the processing of resource consents. You will help customers navigate planning and building legislation within a collaborative team in the Canterbury region.

You will undertake checks, provide guidance, and support communications to customers and staff, contributing to efficient planning processes and council guidance development.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking planning checks on PIMs, building consents, LIMs, alcohol licence applications and event proposals.
• Providing timely and consistent planning advice to customers and internal stakeholders (face to face, email and phone).
• Assisting with the processing of resource consent applications and related approvals.
• Supporting the development and improvement of planning guidance, processes and customer communications.
• Helping resolve customer queries and providing technical planning support across Council.
