An exciting opportunity has come up for a Planning Consultant to join us in our Dunedin office. Working as part of one of New Zealand’s largest Planning teams, this role will see you work on a range of projects for diverse clients across both public and private sectors with a focus on supporting our client workstreams across Otago and Southland.

Responsibilities

As a member of the Planning team, you will support delivery of a range of projects. You will be responsible for the following:

  • Supporting the delivery of projects across the Planning discipline
  • Working beside the rest of the New Zealand & Pacific Service Line partnering with specialists from other disciplines across New Zealand; in the Dunedin office we have Planning, Environmental Services, and Acoustics & Vibration to name a few
  • Delivering the best possible outcomes for clients with a focus on quality
  • Establishing strong working relationships with clients and the team across SLR

Skills and experience

You will also possess the following skills:

  • A degree in Planning or equivalent recognised by NZPI
  • A full member of NZPI or working towards full membership
  • 1-3 years of resource consent and planning experience in New Zealand
  • Knowledge and experience of applying the Resource Management Act to development and infrastructure
  • A good working knowledge of district and regional planning and consenting
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • An aptitude for building and maintaining great relationships with clients and colleagues
  • A resilient and adaptable attitude; see yourself as a can-do person with a calm and confident communication style
  • Ability to work at a strategic level with core clients
  • Ability to translate strategic advice into deliverable work for clients
  • An understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • A drive and passion to achieve outstanding results
