Job summary

Peke Waihanga in Hamilton is seeking a physiotherapist to join our friendly team. The role focuses on rehabilitation with a keen interest in prosthetics and orthotics, and it is offered as a permanent full-time position or two permanent part-time roles; please indicate your preference when applying.

You will work with a diverse patient group on post‑amputation care, attend interdisciplinary clinics, and contribute to service improvements.

Qualifications

  • Experience in rehabilitation with prosthetics/orthotics preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to educate external health providers.

Responsibilities

  • Support post-amputation care from stump to limb fitting.
  • Attend interdisciplinary clinics with internal and external teams.
  • Develop and maintain professional networks to support patient care.
  • Contribute to service improvements and patient education.

We are currently seeking either a permanent full time physiotherapist or two permanent part time physiotherapists in our Hamilton Centre. Please advise on your application which option you are applying for.

The ideal candidate will be a physio who is experienced in rehabilitation with a keen interest in prosthetics and orthotics, with a positive and highly motivated attitude and a true passion for supporting their patients to lead independent lives. You will thrive in a team environment and have the confidence and initiative to suggest service improvements and provide education to external health providers. The ability to develop and maintain strong professional networks will be key in the success of this role.

The successful candidate will work with a wide socio-economic range of patients, on all aspects of post amputation care of the stump(s) through to the fitting and use of artificial limbs. Your strong communication skills will enable you to successful work with a range of health professional internal and external to Peke Waihanga, attend interdisciplinary clinics, obtain and relay information pertinent to the patient’s care and be involved in team decisions regarding on-going care.

Registration with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and a full and current annual practicing certificate is also required for the role.
