Job summary

Compass Group New Zealand is seeking a friendly Catering Assistant to support daily food service at Tupuanuku Hall, University of Canterbury. This permanent role offers 40 hours per week during education terms, on-site duties, and a focus on safety, hygiene and presentation.

You will help prepare and present meals, provide welcoming service, and work within a busy team environment. Applicants should have NZ residency or valid NZ work visa.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role preferred.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a busy food service environment.
• Able to obtain Police Clearance and comply with Compass Group policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, portioning and plating following the site food safety plan.
• Provide warm, friendly customer service to diners throughout service.
• Maintain clean dining, kitchen and public areas and handle waste.
• Receive and rotate stock, replenish supplies and follow routines.
