Job summary

Vitaco is seeking an experienced People & Culture Advisor/Coordinator to join a collaborative team in New Zealand. The role blends practical HR guidance with operational HR delivery across the employee lifecycle in a medium-to-large, fast-paced organisation.

  • 3-5+ years' experience in generalist Human Resources.
  • Demonstrated experience providing first-level HR advice to managers and employees.
  • A sound understanding of New Zealand employment legislation and employment relations principles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical HR advice to managers and employees while interpreting and applying New Zealand employment legislation, company policies and employment agreements.
  • Prepare employment agreements, contract variations and other employment documentation.
  • Coordinate and support key employee lifecycle activities including onboarding, parental leave, employee changes, performance processes and employee exits.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, HR systems and reporting to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Coordinate learning and development activities and support remuneration and other People & Culture initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and systems and escalate more complex employee relations matters or employment risks where appropriate.

About The Role

As a key member of our People & Culture team, you'll support the delivery of people initiatives and provide practical guidance to managers and employees across the employee lifecycle.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Providing practical HR advice to managers and employees while interpreting and applying New Zealand employment legislation, company policies and employment agreements.

About You

You'll already have experience in a structured HR environment, ideally within a medium to large organisation and are confident supporting managers with day-to-day people matters.

You'll Also Bring
  • 3-5+ years' experience in generalist Human Resources.
  • Demonstrated experience providing first-level HR advice to managers and employees.
  • A sound understanding of New Zealand employment legislation and employment relations principles.
  • Experience supporting the employee lifecycle, including employment documentation, onboarding, leave management, performance processes and employee exits.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience using HRIS systems and Microsoft 365.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and an interest in new technologies, including AI.

It would be an advantage if you have experience in:
  • Manufacturing, warehousing or FMCG environments.
  • Supporting unionised workforces.
  • Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) processes.
  • Performance management, investigations or disciplinary processes, or an interest in developing in this area.
