Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Mount Wellington, Auckland, is seeking a Pathologist Assistant or experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the Histology Dissection Team.

This role focuses on advanced tissue dissection, collaboration with consultant pathologists, and adherence to RCPA dissection protocols to deliver accurate diagnostic results.

Qualifications

• Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician with MSCNZ (minimum)
• Experience in dissection/cut-up (Essential)
• Certified competency in advanced tissue dissection (Desirable)

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced tissue dissection and specimen processing
• Collaborate closely with consultant pathologists and the histology team

About the Team/Service/ Location

Anatomic Pathology Service (APS) is an IANZ accredited medical laboratory and part of Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand and Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide a wide range of anatomical pathology specialist diagnostic histology and cytology services to the Auckland region and beyond by processing specimens from over 4,000 private specialists, surgical hospitals, and general practitioners. Our Consultant Pathologists collaborate closely with our experienced team of pathologist assistants, scientists and technicians to deliver high-quality and timely results for the patients and clinicians.You will join a team of 100 highly skilled professionals who are dedicated to excellence, innovation, and patient-centred care. About you

As the ideal candidate you will:

• Be currently registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand www.mscouncil.org.nz
• Have experience in dissection/cut-up (Essential)
• Certified competency in advanced tissue dissection (Desirable).
• Be committed to quality, accuracy and patient outcomes.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and a positive, team-focused approach.
