Job summary

JB Morrison in Wellington is seeking an experienced Partner or Senior Associate to lead and grow the firm's litigation practice. You will advise on civil and commercial disputes, manage complex matters, appear in courts, and collaborate across the firm.

Whether you're an established Partner seeking a new platform for growth or a Senior Associate ready to take the next step, you'll have the autonomy, resources and backing to shape the future of the practice.

About The Role

You will advise clients on a broad range of civil and commercial disputes, manage complex litigation matters, appear in courts and tribunals, and work closely with colleagues across the firm to deliver practical and commercially focused solutions.

You will also play an important leadership role, mentoring junior lawyers, strengthening client relationships, and contributing to the continued growth and success of the practice.

About You

You will be an experienced litigation lawyer with strong technical capability, sound commercial judgement and a reputation for delivering excellent client outcomes. You are also a natural leader who enjoys mentoring and developing others, with the ability to foster a high-performing, collaborative team culture.

The Successful Candidate Will Bring

• Strong civil and commercial litigation experience, ideally 8+ years' PQE.
• Proven court and dispute resolution experience, with sound strategic judgement.
• The ability to provide commercially pragmatic and client-focused advice.
• Strong client relationship skills and the confidence to contribute to business development.
• Leadership capability, including mentoring, coaching and developing junior lawyers.
• A collaborative, collegial approach and commitment to the wider success of the firm.
