AFL New Zealand is seeking a motivated Participation Coordinator in Wellington to support development programs across AFL KiwiKick, community programmes, school football and alternate formats. The position is a full‑time entry‑level role based in Wellington, supporting AFL New Zealand’s development efforts in the Wellington region. The successful candidate will be responsible for attracting, delivering, transitioning and retaining participants across AFL KiwiKick, community programmes, school football and alternate formats.
Support booking and delivering school programmes with the aim to increase participation across our key segments; AFL KiwiKick, Community Football, School Football and Alternate Formats
Manage key relationships with AFL KiwiKick Coordinators, Schools, Community Groups, Community Leagues and Clubs
Coordinate & deliver the AFL KiwiKick programme with a focus on quality and growth
Liaise with teachers, schools and other programme stakeholders to increase the number of School Ambassadors
Perform duties for community programmes, school football and alternative formats including match manage & umpire
Support ongoing training and education for casual staff to deliver AFL Programmes
Contribute to key projects within and outside of core role
Support and contribute to the success of the broader team
Experience in delivering development programmes in the sports industry
Strong interpersonal and people skills & ability to hit targets and deliver great results
Highly motivated individual
Strong administration skills, including experience with Microsoft software
Provide a diverse range of thinking and ideas
Capability to establish and prioritise tasks to achieve objectives
Well‑developed verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills
Experience working with volunteers
