Job summary

Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology in the Bay of Plenty is seeking a caring Classroom Assistant to support adult ākonga with special education needs within the Skills for Living for Supported Learners programme. Working with the tutor, you will help with day-to-day classroom activities and provide individual learning support.

This part-time role (0.5 FTE, 18.75 hours per week) aims to build independence, confidence and life skills in an inclusive, positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Empathy, patience, and strong communication skills
• Ability to follow tutor direction and work collaboratively
• Confidence supporting learners one‑on‑one and in groups
• Reliability, flexibility, and a positive, can‑do attitude
• No formal teaching qualification required
