Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a part‑time Nurse Educator to support professional development across the Kāpiti district nursing service. The role involves education, training delivery, and workforce development for district nurses, enrolled nurses, and HCAs.

You will contribute to orientation, ongoing development, and service improvement while collaborating with Wellington and Kenepuru clinical teams. A practicing certificate and senior nursing experience are essential.

Qualifications

Must hold current annual Practising Certificate with the Nursing Council of NZ.
Minimum five years’ broad clinical nursing experience.
Previous Nurse Educator experience or demonstrated teaching and facilitation skills.
Experience in community, primary health, medical, palliative care, and/or wound care nursing.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and deliver education programmes and in‑service training for district nurses, enrolled nurses, and HCAs.
Support staff participating in the Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP).
Develop and maintain online learning resources through Ko Awatea learn.
Assist with orientation and onboarding of new district nursing and HCA staff.
Participate in Clinical Governance and team meetings, contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
Promote evidence‑based practice and support clinical competency development.
