Job summary

Kaipara District Council is seeking an Assistant Librarian for the Mangawhai Library on a part-time basis (30 hours per week). The role focuses on friendly customer service, helping library users access services and resources, and supporting community programmes and events.

You will assist with technology and digital resources, contribute to daily library operations, and help maintain our collections. The position suits someone with a passion for people, learning, and teamwork in a local

Qualifications

Experience in a library, customer service, or similar public-facing environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Confidence using computers and digital technology.
Good problem-solving and information-finding skills.
Proactive and adaptable approach to work.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
A library qualification, or equivalent experience, would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly frontline customer service and connect people with library services.
Assist with information requests and use of library technology and digital services.
Help deliver programmes and events and contribute to maintaining collections.
Support day-to-day library operations and administration.
Work collaboratively across the Mangawhai Library team and wider council.
