Job description

Mangawhai Library | Full-Time Permanent Role - Monday to Saturday, 40 Hours Per Week
Do you love libraries, learning, and connecting people with information and resources?

Due to an internal promotion, we're looking for a Lead Librarian to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Mangawhai Library. This is a practical, community-focused role where you'll lead a small team, support library programmes and events and help create a welcoming and engaging experience for our customers every day.

Working closely with the Team Manager Libraries, you'll coordinate daily activities, support staff and volunteers, maintain library services and collections and ensure our library remains a valuable community hub.

What you'll be doing
  • Leading the day-to-day operation of Mangawhai Library
  • Supporting and coordinating a small team of Library Assistants, casual staff and volunteers
  • Delivering excellent customer service and helping customers access library resources and technology
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of library programmes, events, activities and displays, while promoting library services through social media and other channels
  • Monitoring library systems, reports and processes
  • Contributing to projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting collection maintenance and stock management.
About you

You'll be someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in delivering great service, and can confidently balance leadership responsibilities with hands‑on library work.
