Job summary

Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand invites applications for a casual chef role in Nelson. You’ll work across busy pub, bar and restaurant kitchens, handling line cooking and fryer tasks with flexible shifts over the summer season.

Ideally you have prior kitchen experience, confidence with line cooking, a positive team mindset, and availability for regular shifts. You must have the right to work in New Zealand. Weekly pay is provided with 8% holiday pay.

• Comfort with line cooking and fryer work during busy services.

Casual Chef – Nelson

Join our team as a casual pub-style chef, with regular hours available across busy pub, bar and restaurant kitchens. Get stuck into line cooking, fryer work and classic pub meals while enjoying flexible shifts over the summer season.

• Working on the line in busy pub, bar and restaurant kitchens.
• Preparing and cooking a range of menu items, including fryer food, burgers, grills and other classic pub meals.
• Maintaining food quality, kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards.
• Supporting the wider kitchen team during busy service periods.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen as a chef or cook.
• Confidence with line cooking, fryer work and busy service periods.
• A reliable, positive attitude and the ability to work well in a team.
• Flexibility to pick up regular shifts over the summer.
• The right to work in New Zealand.
