Job summary

Blokhaus is seeking an experienced Class 5 Driver for Otago. You will operate heavy combination vehicles on regional routes, conduct inspections, and assist with loading and unloading to ensure timely freight movements with safety at the forefront.

The role requires a clean NZ Class 5 license and at least two years of relevant driving experience. A reliable, punctual, and customer-focused mindset is essential in a team-driven transport operation.

Qualifications

• Full, clean New Zealand Class 5 Driver’s License.
• Minimum 2 years of proven experience driving Class 5 heavy combination vehicles.
• Strong understanding of load securing, vehicle dimension limits, and logbook regulations.
• Excellent driving record with a strong commitment to road safety.
• High reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Good physical fitness for occasional manual handling and securing loads.
• Strong communication skills and a professional attitude when dealing with customers.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating Class 5 truck and trailer combinations across designated routes.
• Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
• Assisting with the secure loading, restraint, and unloading of freight and equipment.
• Completing accurate logbooks, delivery dockets, and consignment paperwork.
• Adhering strictly to NZTA road rules, fatigue management guidelines, and weight limits.
• Communicating effectively with dispatchers, logistics managers, and client sites.
• Maintaining vehicle cleanliness and reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
• Following all site-specific health and safety procedures during drop-offs and pick-ups.
