About The Role

As an Orthoptist, you will play a key role in delivering comprehensive patient care through a variety of orthoptic services. Working across general and specialist clinics-including paediatric, ocular motility, and neuro-ophthalmology

What You Have To Do

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and deliver treatment for both adult and paediatric patients with a wide range of visual system disorders.
  • Specialise in the assessment and management of binocular vision anomalies and ocular motility disorders.
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic tests including retinoscopy and refraction, with a focus on:
  • Fitting and prescribing of Fresnel and spectacle prisms
  • Administration of convergence and orthoptic exercises
  • Infant vision assessment and early intervention strategies

Provide technical and clinical support to ophthalmologists during consultations, procedures, and diagnostic evaluations. Educate and support patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and ongoing care. Opportunity to participate in clinical research trials, contributing to the development of innovative approaches in ophthalmic care.

Skills And Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years Orthoptic experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Orthoptics BSc (Orth)
  • BMedSci (Orth) and or
  • Diploma in British Orthoptics (DBO)
