Job summary

Bailey Nelson in Nelson is seeking an Optometrist to deliver top-tier eyecare and a superb customer experience at our new store opening in November 2026. You will contribute to the team, support growth across clinic and retail spaces, and participate in leadership activities and training.

The role offers relocation support for the right candidate, a generous salary package circa 150,000 – 180,000 NZD based on experience, and a 20k sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience as an Optometrist in a busy store/clinic.
• A genuine passion for creating exceptional eyecare experiences for customers.
• Energy to thrive in a fast-paced, growing business and adapt to change.
• Leadership mindset: motivate, train and develop the store team with the Store Manager.
• Ability to manage time and store operations while maintaining customer experience.

Bailey Nelson is looking for an Optometrist for our new store in Nelson opening in November 2026.

What we need from you

• Experience - + 1 year as an Optometrist in a busy store/clinic
• Passion - A genuine passion for creating amazing experiences for your customers both inside and outside the testing room, helping solve their eyecare and eyewear needs and deliver outstanding outcomes for both them and your store
• Energy - A love of being in a fast paced, growing business and able to adapt to change, lead by example with positivity and a can-do attitude
• Leadership - Commitment to inspiring, motivating, training and developing your team to be the best they can be, by working with your Store Manager
• Effectiveness- Ability to effectively manage your time and all operational requirements of your role without ever compromising the customer experience
• Team - Passion for building a strong partnership with your Store Manager, allowing you to approach your store as a leadership team and to jointly identify opportunities for growing your store via both the clinic and retail spaces
