Job summary

Tauranga City Council is looking for Revegetation Operators to join the Natural Environments Team. This hands-on outdoor role involves restoring and caring for natural spaces across Tauranga, in all weather conditions. Full PPE, uniform, transport, and tools are provided.

Key tasks include dune care, pest plant control, herbicide spraying, rubbish removal, and planting. Experience with chainsaws or pruning is a bonus. Pass a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screen is required.

Qualifications

• Honesty and integrity (this is critical)
• A track record of being reliable and a positive team player
• Relevant qualifications such as First Aid, Traffic Management, Growsafe, LUV and Chainsaw are preferred
• Strong pest plant and plant knowledge
• Ability to use a mobile phone and learn our workflow app
• A positive attitude and a willingness to listen and learn
• The ability to deliver a high quality of work and take real pride in what you do
• The ability to follow and implement Health and Safety guidelines
• Be physically fit and able to work outdoors on your feet all day
• Have great communication and customer service skills - you’ll need to be comfortable being an Ambassador for TCC and answering the communities enquires while out on the job
• Must be able to pass a medical and drug and alcohol tests

Te Tūranga | About the role

We’re excited to announce that we haveavailability for new Revegetation Operator positions to join our Natural Environments Team. You’ll help bring sites across Tauranga to life for everyone to enjoy. This is a hands-on, outdoor role where you’ll work with a friendly team to restore and care for our natural spaces.

These roles are very hands on and physically demanding, you will be working outdoors which means you’ll have to be comfortable working in all terrains and weather conditions.

• Monday to Friday, 7am to 3:30pm (40 hours per week)
• Full uniform, PPE, wet weather gear, and work boots provided
• All tools and transport supplied

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Cut and paste, hand removal, dune care, and pest plant vine control
