Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Operations Technician to support oil and gas production activities in the Queenstown region. In this hands-on role, you will monitor and operate production equipment, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safe and efficient facility operation, contributing to plant output and compliance with safety and environmental protocols.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent Operations Technician to support oil and gas production activities in the Queenstown region. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for monitoring and operating production equipment, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of the facility. You will play a critical role in maintaining production output and ensuring adherence to safety and environmental protocols, contributing directly to the operational success of the company in the Eastern Cape.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor production equipment, including pumps, compressors, and separators.
• Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs on field equipment.
• Collect fluid samples and perform basic laboratory tests.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving operational problems.
• Adhere strictly to all safety, health, and environmental procedures.
• Maintain accurate operational logs and reports.

Requirements

• National Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant trade qualification (e.g., NQF Level 4).
• 2-4 years of experience in an operations or maintenance role within the oil and gas industry.
• Understanding of oil and gas production processes and equipment.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and environmental regulations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work shifts and in remote field locations near Queenstown
