About the Opportunity

Manaaki Marine is proud to be partnering with a well-established and highly regarded marine engineering and services provider based in Mt Wellington, Auckland. This business specialises in the supply, servicing, and installation of marine diesel engines and auxiliary systems - supporting both the recreational and commercial marine sectors across New Zealand and the wider South Pacific.

With a strong reputation for quality, technical expertise, and personalised service, the company is seeking a people-focused Operations Manager to lead its growing team of marine technicians, coordinate service delivery, and help shape the future of its operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team of technicians working on diesel engines, generators, water-makers, and stabilisation systems.
  • Manage workshop scheduling, workflow, and resource planning
  • Oversea procurement, parts supply, and stock management
  • Uphold strong health & safety practices and operational compliance
  • Maintain high standards of service quality and customer satisfaction
  • Liaise with vessel owners, commercial clients, and internal teams to ensure timely project delivery
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of systems, processes, and team culture

What We're Looking For:

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Trade qualification in Marine or Mechanical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on technical experience in the marine, mechanical or heavy diesel industries
  • 2+ years in a leadership or operations management role, preferably in a service or workshop environment
  • Strong technical understanding of marine engines and auxiliary systems
  • Experience with job tracking software, procurement systems, and H&S frameworks
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Full Class 1 Driver's License (Forklift licence an advantage)

Bonus Skills:

  • Exposure to premium marine OEM brands
  • Familiarity with commercial maritime environments and customer requirements
  • Ability to work across both service and supply chain functions
