Mo tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role

Lead from the front and take ownership of ensuring efficient management of the operation and maintenance of water supply & irrigation, sewer and stormwater performance and delivery of maintenance excellence and engineering improvements across utility services and assets, by providing professional and technical engineering leadership to the maintenance teams.

We’re searching for a seasoned Operations and Maintenance Engineering Manager to drive reliable works delivery, while playing a critical role in futureproofing infrastructure to meet growing demand. Based in Blenheim, this role is a cornerstone of regional functioning water. It offers the scope to operate at pace, with the support and structure of a multidiscipline environment.

Your remit will include:

  • Providing leadership direction to achieve daily service targets whilst developing a positive team culture
  • Develop, implement and maintain a high level of services reliability through cost effective preventative maintenance to avoid failures
  • Provide engineering support to ensure health and safety, hygiene, regulatory, customer and environmental compliance are met
  • In conjunction with Site managers, design and maintain a financial budget for your area of responsibility.
  • Regularly audit engineering policy, guidelines and procedures to ensure 'best practice' is maintained
  • Champion continuous improvement

Your previous experience in coordinating multiple tasks will be essential because of the busy nature that Council provide

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

• Degree/Diploma in an Engineering or Technical Bachelor discipline

• 10 years’ experience in the appropriate fields

• Competent experience in the operation and maintenance of community water, wastewater and stormwater services.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for providing a quality service to both staff and public alike across diverse teams and in time precious environments.

• Clear and effective communication skills are essential.

• The right person must be proactive, thorough, and detailed, with a high level of relationship building
