Job summary

InterGroup in New Zealand seeks an experienced People & Capability professional to partner with leaders and solve complex people challenges on-site. This generalist HR role spans recruitment, onboarding, performance, development, employment relations, and employee exits, with a visible, hands-on approach embedded in the business.

You will provide practical, commercially focused advice, build genuine partnerships across teams, and thrive in an environment where no two days are the same.

Qualifications

• Experienced HR professional with breadth of a generalist role.
• Extensive employment relations expertise.
• Confident partnering with leaders at all levels.
• Strong coaching, communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice across the full employee lifecycle—from attracting great people through to their exits for whatever reason.
• Lead complex employment relations matters with confidence and professionalism.
• Coach and support leaders to build their people leadership capability.
• Partner with managers to recruit and retain great talent.
• Work alongside operational teams, developing a strong understanding of how the business operates so your advice is practical, commercially sound, relevant, and adds real value.
• Contribute to People & Capability initiatives that improve the employee experience and strengthen organisational capability.
• Ensure our people practices remain compliant, fair, and aligned with employment legislation and business objectives.
