Job summary

Ko Taku Reo invites an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Integrated Services Team at the Auckland Campus (Kelston). This full-time role supports ākonga aged 5–21 and travels termly to Wellington and Christchurch provisions.

Based in Auckland, you will collaborate with families, schools and agencies to help students access the NZ curriculum. Applicants should have paediatric experience, NZSL knowledge or willingness to learn, strong communication, and a clean full driver's licence

Qualifications

  • Approved qualifications as an Occupational Therapist with proven paediatric experience.
  • Desire to assist with learning, achievement and success of students.
  • Willingness to develop NZSL and Deaf cultural knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Support the wellbeing of ākonga and whānau
  • Ensure compliance with values and legislative requirements
  • Work with families, schools and agencies to enable participation in the NZ curriculum
  • Advocate for student needs appropriately
  • Adapt equipment or the school environment to support student need
  • Maintain appropriate records and work with wider staff to achieve best outcomes

You will be joining anationwide teamand youwill share their passion and enthusiasm for delivering high quality educationand services to DHHākonga and their whānau we support.

THE ROLE /TE MAHI

We are looking for an experienced fulltime OccupationalTherapist to join our Integrated Services Team, working with students from 5-21years of age. This role is based at our Auckland Campus in Kelston and supportsour ākonga and their families/whānau in our Auckland (Kelston and Ormiston), Wellingtonand Christchurch Deaf provisions including our residential services. You willbe required to travel once a term to our Wellington andChristchurch provisions.

You will:
  • Supportthe wellbeing of ourākonga and their whānau
  • Ensurecompliance with the values as well as the legislative requirements of theorganisation
  • Worksalongside families, schools and other agencies to help children and youngpeople participate in accessing the NZ curriculum
  • Advocatefor student needs appropriately
  • Adaptsequipment or the school environment to support student need
  • Ensureappropriate records are maintained
  • Workwith wider staff across the organisation ensuring the best outcomes forstudents
You will have:
  • Approvedqualifications as an Occupational Therapist with proven paediatricexperience
  • Existingskills, or demonstrate a willingness to develop proficiency, in NewZealand Sign Language (NZSL) and Deaf cultural knowledge
  • Adesire to assist with learning, achievement and success of our students
  • Knowledgeof NZ Education Sector
  • Goodcommunication and diplomacy skills
  • Affinitywith the values of our organisation
  • Respectand positive engagement with all students and colleagues
  • Aclean, full drivers licence anduse of own car with mileagereimbursed
