Job summary

Canstaff is assisting a client in Mid Canterbury to hire a skilled NZ Certified Drainlayer. The role focuses on planning, installing and maintaining drainage systems, reading civil drawings, and coordinating with trades on-site. Strong safety discipline and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

NZ Certified Drainlayer qualification is required.
Minimum of 2 years post-trade experience in civil works.
Strong knowledge of civil construction processes and how drainage integrates with other trades.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to health and safety.

Responsibilities

Plan, excavate, and install drainage systems including stormwater, wastewater, and sewer pipelines.
Read and interpret civil drawings, plans, and specifications accurately.
Operate specialised vehicles and machinery safely.
Coordinate with other civil trades to ensure project completion.
Conduct site inspections and quality checks for safety compliance.
Troubleshoot drainage issues on-site and maintain records.
