Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to work across primary care practices and Community Mental Health teams. The NP role focuses on independent and collaborative care to meet mental health needs in a primary care context, enabling access to services and supporting population-based care.

The role emphasizes consultation, direct care, education, and leadership to deliver equitable outcomes for tangata whaiora and whānau within a flexible community-based model.

Qualifications

• Clinical Nursing Masters including or additional NP practicum (60 credits)
• Mâtanga Tapuhi NP Practising Certificate with NCNZ
• At least four years' experience aligned with mental health care
• Sign-off for technical skills/certifications/endorsements e.g. radiology
• Internationally trained NP: include university transcript for Master courses
• Knowledge of NZ Health System and equity issues; leadership and nursing issues
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills
• Experience in service development and quality improvement strategies

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation, direct care and treatment in primary care settings
• Collaborate with primary care practices and Community Mental Health teams
• Offer clinical advice and education to primary care clinicians
• Support care episodes, care management and service development
