Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Hastings is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to lead advanced clinical care in the Emergency Department and Fast Track Clinic. You will work autonomously and with a multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose and manage acute illness and injury, and to discharge patients with appropriate plans.

You will support equitable health outcomes, lead clinical education, and contribute to ongoing clinical practice development within a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Nursing Council of NZ as a Nurse Practitioner.
• At least five years of acute and/or emergency nursing experience.
• Experience in assessment, diagnosis and management of acute illness and injury.
• Experience with wound care, suturing and fracture management.
• Strong clinical decision making and communication skills.
• Ability to lead, mentor and support team development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced clinical care for acute presentations in ED and Fast Track Clinic.
• Undertake comprehensive assessments, diagnose and treat conditions.
• Order and interpret investigations, determine treatment and discharge plans.
• Lead care delivery to optimise patient flow and access to care.
• Engage in education, quality improvement and equity initiatives.
