About the Role

The Nurse Educator (NE) is responsible for facilitating training and education that develops the nursing workforce competence and capability both within ward 7 south and across the District. The NE provides professional and clinical nursing leadership, working with staff to meet quality and safety standards of care. This includes contributing to development of policies and procedures. The clinical component of the role is to provide expertise and role modelling by working with staff to teach, coach and demonstrate practice excellence.


About the Team/Service Location

7 South is a 25 bed multi-specialty ward. The service provides care for patients from Neurosurgery, Neurology and Acute Stroke.


The Neuroscience Service provides regional/tertiary specialist assessment and treatment for people with trauma and diseases affecting neurological function. The senior nursing team is committed to working with staff at the bedside to provide support and education, ensuring excellence in patient care.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of significance and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in a senior nursing role.
