Job summary

InterGroup is seeking a reliable Night Shift Driver / Operator to join our Wellington Infrastructure team. This is a hands-on role operating compactor and sweeper trucks, completing litter collection, and performing routine vehicle checks to keep routes moving overnight.

You will work outdoors in all weather, under permanent night shifts, with a strong emphasis on safety, practical problem solving, and delivering clean, safe public spaces for Wellington.

Qualifications

• Must have a current Class 2 NZ driver licence.
• Experience driving heavy vehicles; specialist equipment experience is advantageous.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather.
• Comfortable with permanent night shifts.
• Good communication and a practical approach to work.
• Strong focus on safety and doing the job properly.

Responsibilities

• Operating compactor and sweeper trucks.
• Collecting litter, rubbish and debris across Wellington.
• Completing pre-starts and vehicle checks.
• Working independently across assigned routes.
• Getting out of the vehicle to complete manual tasks.
• Keeping vehicles and equipment clean and tidy.
• Working safely around traffic, pedestrians and the public.
• Completing basic job records and reporting any issues.
