Job description
Overview

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we are rebuilding a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.

About the Role

We’re looking for motivated new graduate Radiation Therapists (RTs) to join us at the Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre (WBCC), based at Wellington Regional Hospital. As part of our friendly multidisciplinary team, you’ll have the chance to put your training into practice while delivering safe, accurate, and compassionate care to patients undergoing radiation treatment.

This is a hands-on clinical role where you’ll gain experience across the full treatment pathway—from localisation and planning through to delivery, patient assessment, and education. You’ll be supported by experienced RTs and have plenty of opportunities to develop your skills, contribute to service improvements, and be involved in innovative approaches to patient care.

About the Team/Service Location

Our Radiation Oncology team is a vibrant, supportive, and forward-thinking group dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. We pride ourselves on our collaborative culture and commitment to innovation, consistently delivering a wide range of advanced treatment techniques.

You’ll be working in a well-equipped department featuring state-of-the-art technology, including three fleet-matched TrueBeam Linear Accelerators with IGRT, VMAT, FFF, gating, and stereotactic capabilities. Our facilities also include a Superficial X-ray unit, HDR brachytherapy suite with a dedicated theatre, our own CT scanner, and a fully integrated, single-vendor treatment planning and patient management system.

Join a team that values excellence, embraces innovation, and puts patients at the heart of everything we do.

About you

You’re a newly qualified or soon-to-graduate Radiation Therapist who’s passionate about patient care and ready to start your career in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. You bring excellent communication skills, adaptability and a positive, team-oriented mindset, along with a willingness to learn, embrace change and contribute to a supportive, inclusive – and even fun – workplace culture.

You’re motivated to make a real difference in patients’ lives and eager to grow your skills while contributing to service innovation and the implementation of advanced treatment techniques.

To be considered, you must:

  • Be a New Zealand Citizen or hold (or be eligible for) a valid NZ Work Visa
  • Be registered (or eligible for registration) with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board
  • Hold (or be eligible to hold) a current Annual Practising Certificate
