Job description
New entrant–Y1 teacher – 2026

Full time, Fixed term. Start Date: 02/02/2026. End Date: 25/09/2026 (Maternity leave).

Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher.

Covered subjects: English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts.

As a teacher in Kourarau, you will:
  • Inspire and engage students who are beginning school in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Support the diverse needs of learners, ensuring all tamariki can succeed.
  • Build strong relationships with students, whānau, and colleagues.
  • Contribute to curriculum design, student leadership opportunities, and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Kourarau team and wider staff to achieve our school vision.
What we are looking for:
  • A passionate, reflective, and relational teacher.
  • Strong pedagogical knowledge with the ability to help support learners beginning their journey to school.
