SouthRoads is seeking a Network Inspector to join the Clutha Maintenance team in Balclutha, reporting to the HWR Group. The role focuses on inspecting the road network, contracting management, and coordinating crews and sub-contractors to keep roads safe and well maintained.

You will work closely with Council representatives, manage CSRs (RFS), and support programming and asset data in RAMM. A strong field presence, safety focus, and independent decision-making are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in road maintenance or network inspection.
• Knowledge of pavement defects, edge breaks, stabilisation and resealing.
• Experience prioritising maintenance requirements.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Experience with RAMM or similar asset management systems.
• Good planning and organisational skills.
• Understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements in civil construction.
• Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions.
• Current full Class 1 driver licence.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine inspections of the road network and identify defects on pavement, shoulder and roadside.
• Assess maintenance needs and recommend repair or treatment options.
• Manage Customer Service Requests (RFS) including investigation, response, programming and close-out.
• Coordinate and support stabilisation and pavement resealing programmes.
• Liaise with stabilisation and resealing crews and subcontractors for safe, efficient delivery.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, work histories and RAMM asset information.
• Assist with monthly programming and work prioritisation.
• Liaise with Clutha District Council regarding maintenance requirements and inquiries.
• Monitor quality, health and safety, and environmental compliance.

SouthRoads is a leading civil construction and maintenance contractor operating throughout the lower South Island. As part of the HWR Group, we deliver a wide range of infrastructure services including road maintenance, construction, surfacing, stabilisation, asset management and emergency response services.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Network Inspector to join our Clutha Maintenance team based in Balclutha.

This is a varied and hands-on role responsible for inspecting the road network, identifying maintenance requirements, managing Customer Service Requests (RFS) and managing work crews and sub-contractors as required. Working closely with Council representatives, you will play a key role in ensuring the network remains safe, compliant and well maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Good planning and organisational skills.
• Understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements in the civil construction industry.
• The ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
• A current full Class 1 driver licence.
