Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Christchurch Hospital is seeking a Social Worker to join the Neonatal Intensive Care unit on a permanent part-time basis (0.6FTE, 24 hours per week). You will support families from Kaikoura to Timaru, providing assessment, monitoring and care in a busy NICU alongside multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires NZ Registration and Annual Practising Certificate, and includes an on-call roster for weekends and public holidays, with 5-day flexibility.

Qualifications

• Experience within Care and Protection, Family Harm
• Understanding grief and loss
• An understanding of Trauma, is desired but not essential
• The ability to speak Te Reo is desirable
• NZ Registration and Current Annual practising is essential

Responsibilities

• Social work assessment, monitoring and support of patients in NICU
• Triaging workloads to meet patient needs and service demands
• Attending social work team and departmental activities, projects and staff meetings
• Participate in service development and quality assurance initiatives
• Supporting team needs with work prioritisation and delivery
• Work in partnership with Maori Health team
• Working across teams to support service demand
