Job summary

Department of Corrections NZ is seeking a General Manager for the Persons of Extreme Risk Directorate (PERD) to lead national custodial services handling the highest-risk individuals. You will oversee the Organised Crime Reduction Unit (OCRU) and the Prisoners of Extreme Risk Unit (PERU), shaping a new national capability and influencing policy and practice across Corrections and the wider justice sector.

Responsibilities

• Lead OCRU and PERU, establishing them as national centres of excellence.
• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for OCRU and PERU to manage high-risk individuals.
• Deliver national leadership on custodial practice for organised crime-related activities.
• Strengthen national consistency in risk management and placement decisions.
• Build partnerships across Corrections, justice sector, law enforcement and iwi/community.
