Role Overview

As theNational Commercial Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving the strategic direction and performance of our national commercial sales operations. Leading and coaching theCommercial Business Development Manager (BDM)team, you will ensure that our sales strategies are aligned with the broader goals of the business, while developing strong relationships with key commercial stakeholders across New Zealand. Your leadership will help solidify Kitchen Things as the market leader in kitchen and laundry appliances for the commercial sector, and drive profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Leadership & Strategy:Lead the national commercial sales team and develop strategies that position Kitchen Things as the preferred supplier for kitchen and laundry appliances in the commercial sector. Align your team’s efforts with the company’s overall business goals.
  • Revenue Growth & Profitability:Drive consistent sales performance across national accounts, ensuring the achievement of both monthly and annual targets. Identify new business opportunities and focus on maximising profitability through a well-defined sales strategy.
  • Team Development & Support:Oversee the development and performance of the commercial BDM team. Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to inspire the team, build trust, and ensure they meet their targets.
  • Relationship Management:Cultivate and strengthen relationships with key commercial clients, including property developers, builders, architects, and specifiers. Reinforce Kitchen Things’ position as a trusted partner within the commercial appliance market.
  • Operational Excellence:Optimize the day-to-day operations of the commercial division by ensuring efficient forecasting, resource management, and the maintenance of an accurate, visible sales pipeline. Work with internal teams to streamline processes and ensure smooth operations.
  • Financial Management:Own the development and management of the annual sales budget for the commercial division, providing insightful analysis on sales performance, budget tracking, and forecasting. Collaborate with business development managers to maximise revenue.

What We’re Looking For:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Proven Sales Leadership:Extensive experience in commercial sales, with a track record of driving growth, managing teams, and delivering results in a competitive environment. Experience managing field-based teams is an advantage.
  • Industry Knowledge:Strong understanding of the commercial appliance market in New Zealand, particularly within the construction, retail, or appliance sectors. Experience with key accounts management is highly desirable.
  • Strategic & Analytical Skills:The ability to craft and execute sales strategies, backed by strong analytical skills. You should be comfortable interpreting sales data, managing budgets, and utilizing tools like Excel or Power BI for reporting and analysis.
  • Strong Relationship Building:A proven ability to foster long-term relationships with key stakeholders and partners. You are a confident negotiator and communicator who can engage clients at all levels.
  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving:You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and can lead your team through changes, such as new systems or market conditions. You are proactive in tackling challenges and finding solutions to drive sales and improve operations.
