Job Overview

Performs MRI procedures in accordance with approved techniques and standards. Operates MRI equipment safely, following appropriate safety guidelines.

Responsibilities
  1. Consistently performs high-quality MRI studies according to protocols established by Radiologists. Films all MRI exams utilizing proper window and level. Follows protocol for room setup, patient assessment, and injection procedures. Demonstrates competence in venipuncture and contrast medium administration.
  2. Verifies order and patient identification before performing MRI. Screens all patients for medical appropriateness and potential projectiles before entering the MRI room. Completes and validates patient assessment form prior to MRI entry.
  3. Provides excellent customer service to patients and staff. Communicates effectively, displaying tact and diplomacy, maintaining supportive relationships.
  4. Follows safety guidelines during MRI operation and adheres to Virtua policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Previous MRI experience preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Certification as ARMRIT or CAMRT as a Registered MR Technologist; OR ARRT registered and NJDEP licensed radiographer with 6 months supervised scanning; OR an associate's/bachelor's degree in allied health with additional imaging modality certification and 6 months supervised MR scanning. MRI Board certification is preferred.
