Job description
Overview

Banker to Mortgage Broker - Run Faster With Warm Leads & Real Autonomy

Company: The Good Broker

Location: Mount Maunganui (Hybrid Flexi)

Type: Full-time

Why this role?

The main reason new brokers fail is lack of leads (not lack of banking skill). We have more warm inbound leads than we can handle. We are the only brokerage in Tauranga offering salaries or retainers to brokers to join us. We have a proven track record of taking bankers and turning them into exceptional brokers — our first “banker to broker” (Mike) settled $6.27m in his 2nd full month and will settle 8-12m in his 3rd full month, while achieving 20+ 5-star reviews. For context, maintaining $6.27m per month would place him among the top NZ brokers. We operate in a high tech, high performance environment with a solid coaching culture. You’ll run faster than a bank allows, with real autonomy, support (focus on speaking with new and existing customers and doing strategies, not admin and collecting docs), and a compensation plan that rewards performance. We pay a retainer/salary. Who do you think will put more effort into training you and providing leads — the company paying you a retainer/salary or a commission-only gig?

Responsibilities
  • Convert a steady flow of warm leads — just submitted a form/quiz that same day; these are not a stale database we’re calling. Focus on speed-to-first-contact (≤15 minutes) and high-quality discovery.
  • Structure deals across major NZ lenders; own policy navigation (get help if you are stuck), servicing calculations, pricing requests, and clear client advice.
  • Keep immaculate compliance: disclosures, file notes, record-keeping, and audit readiness.
  • Build and nurture client and third-party relationships.
  • Collaborate in weekly strategy clinics; share wins and learnings with the team.

  • 30–60–90 onboarding with playbooks, scripts, case studies, strategy sessions.
  • Daily coaching for the first 4 weeks
  • Ongoing regular training to keep you hitting target
