Job summary

Bank of New Zealand seeks an experienced Database Engineer to manage MongoDB environments in AWS, using Terraform for infrastructure as code. The role focuses on administration, optimization, security, and automation, with responsibilities spanning deployment, performance tuning, and data reporting.

Candidates should have strong MongoDB/WAWS expertise, Terraform experience, and a solid SQL background. The position is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity based in Auckland, NZ.

Qualifications

• Strong experience administering MongoDB databases in production environments.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services, including infrastructure, networking, security, and cloud operations.
• Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Strong SQL querying and relational database knowledge.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, monitor, and optimize MongoDB databases in AWS.
• Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform and IaC.
• Support performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high availability configurations.
• Implement and maintain database security and access controls.
• Troubleshoot database, infrastructure, and application performance issues.
• Collaborate with development and platform teams for deployments.
• Develop automation scripts and deployment pipelines for database infrastructure.
• Document technical procedures and support guides.
• Support data analysis and reporting through SQL development.
