Job summary

Tradestaff New Zealand is seeking an experienced Welder to join a skilled fabrication team in Matamata. This role focuses on MIG and TIG welding and general fabrication in a supportive workshop environment with an immediate start and potential for ongoing work.

You will read basic drawings, prepare and weld components, maintain safety and quality, and work as part of a small team in a convenient Matamata location.

Qualifications

• Welding and fabrication experience
• Ability to read basic drawings and work accurately to measurements
• Valid driver licence and reliable transport
• Good understanding of health and safety in the workshop
• Reliable with a positive, team-focused attitude

Responsibilities

• Weld and fabricate components and assemblies using MIG/TIG equipment.
• Read basic drawings, measurements, and fabrication specifications.
• Prepare, fit, align, and tack materials prior to welding.
• Complete cutting, grinding, drilling, and general fabrication tasks.
• Inspect finished work to ensure quality and accuracy, completing repairs or adjustments as required.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work area.
• Work effectively as part of a small fabrication team.
