Job summary

Goodman Fielder is seeking a Field Merchandising Team Leader for a 6-month fixed-term contract covering the Dunedin to Timaru region. You will lead a team of Merchandisers, ensure our brands are well stocked and presented, and build strong store relationships with major retail partners.

This hands-on leadership role requires coaching your team, delivering effective field execution, and using Salesforce and retailer platforms to track progress and priorities.

• Excellent planning, organisation and attention to detail.
• Practical, hands-on attitude and willingness to get stuck in alongside the team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day execution of the merchandising programme across the region (Dunedin to Timaru).
• Coach, motivate and develop the team, ensuring training and readiness.
• Ensure products are available, well stocked and presented in-store.
• Build strong relationships with store teams across retail partners.
• Work with the Regional Field Manager to deliver priorities and improve in-store performance.
• Roll up sleeves to support hands-on merchandising and manual handling when needed.
• Use technology and systems to support effective field execution.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Field Merchandising Team Leader to join Goodman Fielder on a 6-month fixed-term contract, looking after the Dunedin to Timaru region.

You’ll lead a team of Merchandisers, ensuring our much-loved brands are well stocked, professionally presented and easy for customers to find. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll build strong store relationships, support your team in the field and help deliver great execution across our retail partners.

What you will do

• Lead the day-to-day execution of Goodman Fielder’s merchandising programme across your region.
• Coach, motivate and develop your team, ensuring they’re well trained and set up for success.
• Ensure our products are available, well stocked and professionally presented in-store.
• Build strong working relationships with store teams across Woolworths NZ, Foodstuffs and other retail partners.
• Work closely with the Regional Field Manager to deliver merchandising priorities and improve in-store performance.
• Roll up your sleeves and support your team with hands‑on merchandising and manual handling when needed.
• Use technology and systems, including Salesforce and retailer platforms, to support effective field execution.

What you will bring

• Experience leading, coaching or motivating a team, with the ability to bring out the best in others.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Excellent planning, organisation and attention to detail.
• A practical, hands‑on attitude and willingness to get stuck in alongside your team.
• FMCG or merchandising experience is advantageous, but not essential.
• Confidence using technology and learning new systems — we’ll help you get up to speed.
• A current driver's licence and valid New Zealand working rights are essential.
