Job summary

Pathlab Lakes Ltd in Rotorua is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our core lab team, supporting a 24/7 roster and 80 hours per fortnight. You will conduct diverse tests, ensure accuracy, calibrate equipment, and collaborate with clinicians to guide patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science is required.
• Current registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand is required.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in laboratory information systems and data management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a variety of laboratory tests and analyses on biological samples to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
• Ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results by adhering to established protocols and quality control measures.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to interpret test results and provide insights for patient management.
• Document and report findings in compliance with regulatory standards and organisational policies.
• Participate in the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and techniques.
• Train and mentor junior laboratory staff and students as required.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science

Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand
