Thames Hospital in the Coromandel is seeking a Medical Imaging Technologist to join Thames Radiology with a 0.9 FTE (72 hours per fortnight) fixed-term role until February 2027. The team values work/life balance and career progression within a small, supportive group.

You will perform diagnostic imaging to a high standard, participate in a rotating roster, and ensure patient-focused care while meeting CPD requirements and registration obligations.

Qualifications

  • Hold full registration with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologist Board with a general scope of practice.
  • Hold a current practising certificate.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and a strong patient focus.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn CT and participate in a rotating roster.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality diagnostic imaging in a timely manner.
  • Deliver safe, respectful, effective and efficient patient care and optimal service delivery.

About the Role

Join a progressive medical imaging team that values work/life balance and career progression opportunities. Join our small but innovative, social and adventurous team. Our Medical Imaging Technologists (MITs) are responsible for performing diagnostic imaging to a high standard. The Radiology department operates a day shift 7 days a week with an overnight on call service. This roster is shared equally amongst you and your MIT colleagues.

About the Service

Thames Radiology is the home of general x-ray, mobile x-ray, image intensifier, computed tomography and ultrasound imaging. We provide services to the wider Coromandel and Hauraki region. Thames Hospital is a modern 50-bed secondary care facility offering a comprehensive range of services, including an emergency department, inpatient care, day surgery, an infusion unit, rehabilitation services, birthing unit and low-acuity mental health care. Our hospital boasts 24-hour laboratory and radiology services, including advanced CT imaging. As an accredited training hub, we support 5th and 6th-year medical students from Auckland University, PGY2 House Officers, and registrars in Rural Hospital Medicine and General and Acute Care Medicine. We offer a robust quality improvement program, CME opportunities, and an RMO teaching program. Telehealth is expanding at Thames, supporting inpatient care, outpatient clinics, and emergency services like stroke thrombolysis.

About you

  • Hold a full registration with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologist Board witha general scope of practice

  • Have the ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
  • Utilise excellent time management and organisational skills

CT user would be an advantage or willingness to be trained in CT.
