Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Thames is seeking a Medical Imaging Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging to a high standard within a supportive radiology team. The department operates a day shift 7 days a week with an overnight on-call service, shared across MIT colleagues.

The Thames Radiology service provides general x-ray, mobile x-ray, image intensifier, CT and ultrasound imaging for the Coromandel region.

Qualifications

  • Hold a full registration with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologist Board with a general scope of practice.
  • Hold a current practising certificate.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Have a strong patient focus.
  • Have the ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our Medical Imaging Technologists (MITs) are responsible for performing diagnostic imaging to a high standard. The Radiology department operates a day shift 7 days a week with an overnight on call service. This roster is shared equally amongst you and your MIT colleagues.

About the Service

Thames Radiology is the home of general x-ray, mobile x-ray, image intensifier, computed tomography and ultrasound imaging. We provide services to the wider Coromandel and Hauraki region. About Thames

Thames Hospital is a modern 50-bed secondary care facility offering a comprehensive range of services, including an emergency department, inpatient care, day surgery, an infusion unit, rehabilitation services, birthing unit and low-acuity mental health care. Our hospital boasts 24-hour laboratory and radiology services, including advanced CT imaging. As an accredited training hub, we support 5th and 6th-year medical students from Auckland University, PGY2 House Officers, and registrars in Rural Hospital Medicine and General and Acute Care Medicine. We offer a robust quality improvement program, CME opportunities, and an RMO teaching program. Telehealth is expanding at Thames, supporting inpatient care, outpatient clinics, and emergency services like stroke thrombolysis.

About you

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a full registration with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologist Board witha general scope of practice
  • Hold a current practising certificate.

  • Have the ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Utilise excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • CT user would be an advantage or willingness to be trained in CT.
