Job summary

Downer in Wellington is seeking a Project Engineer Mechanical to join our team, supporting delivery of a complex infrastructure project. You will coordinate installation, integration, testing and commissioning of key mechanical systems, including pumps, piping, and process plant, while liaising with civil and electrical teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3–7 years in mechanical construction or infra projects.
• Experience with installation of mechanical plant including pumps, piping, or process systems.
• Strong commissioning and testing knowledge.
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
• Commitment to safety, quality and compliance.
• Experience in water, wastewater, or process plants.
• Exposure to multi-disciplinary coordination across mechanical, civil, and electrical teams.
• Experience with procurement and vendor coordination.
• Involvement in commissioning and start-up of process systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate installation, integration, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems.
• Oversee interfaces across civil, structural and electrical disciplines.
• Ensure safety, quality and compliance on site.
• Support procurement and subcontractor coordination.
