Job summary

Morrison Agri is seeking experienced Meal Feed Technicians to join our teams in Ashburton, Timaru or North Canterbury. This on‑farm role focuses on installation, maintenance and repair of meal feeding systems to optimise livestock nutrition and on‑farm performance.

You will work closely with farmers, installing, commissioning and calibrating systems, diagnosing faults and performing preventive maintenance, with on‑call support for urgent breakdowns on dairy farms.

Qualifications

• Experience with meal feed or automated livestock feeding systems.
• Strong mechanical and basic electrical servicing skills.
• Excellent fault‑finding ability and independent work capability.
• Ability to work confidently with farm safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Installing and commissioning automated meal feeding systems.
• Diagnosing faults and conducting preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Supporting servicing of feed delivery systems, silos, and augers.
• Calibrating and programming control units and dispensing mechanisms.
• Assisting with upgrades and system modifications.
• Participating in on‑call roster for urgent breakdowns.

With consistent growth and demand for our specialist services, we are looking for experienced Meal Feed Technicians to join our skilled teams in either Ashburton or Timaru.

About the Role

This is a specialist, hands‑on field service role focused on the installation, maintenance, and repair of meal feeding systems on dairy farms. You’ll work closely with farmers to ensure systems are running reliably and efficiently, helping to optimise livestock nutrition and on‑farm performance.

Your responsibilities will include

• Installing and commissioning automated meal feeding systems
• Diagnosing faults and conducting preventative maintenance and repairs
• Supporting electrical and mechanical servicing of feed delivery systems, silos, and augers
• Calibrating and programming control units and dispensing mechanisms
• Assisting with upgrades and system modifications
• Participating in the on‑call roster to support urgent breakdowns

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is practical, mechanically minded, and passionate about providing solutions on‑farm. You’ll ideally have:

• Proven experience working with meal feed or automated livestock feeding systems
• Strong mechanical and/or basic electrical servicing skills
• Excellent fault‑finding ability and the capacity to think on your feet
• Ability to work independently with confidence and accountability
• A positive, can‑do attitude and commitment to farm safety practices
