Are you passionate about teaching in a Christian school? This is your opportunity!
Ponatahi Christian School is a coeducational, state-integrated area school (Years 1–13) with around 140 students, set in a beautiful location on the edge of Carterton. Our mission is to “Enable young people to serve God and society.” We seek to live this out by teaching students according to God's Word while nurturing them in every respect.
We are seeking a qualified and committed Christian teacher to join our team in a permanent 0.7 position commencing in 2027. The successful applicant will teach Materials Technology (particularly woodwork) and Physical Education. Knowledge of BCAT assessments and workshop management would be advantageous.
The ability to teach Information Technology, Digital Technologies, or coding would be an advantage. As a small school, we value flexibility and a willingness to contribute across a range of curriculum areas.
The successful applicant will be committed to Christian education, maintain high expectations for student achievement and character development, and create engaging learning opportunities that help students develop their God-given abilities. They will build positive relationships within the school community, work collaboratively and contribute to the wider life of the school.
As this is a tagged position, a willingness and ability to take part in religious instruction appropriate to the special character of the school, and to actively support and uphold the school's Special Character and Statement of Faith, are conditions of appointment.
We offer a supportive environment where staff are valued, encouraged, and equipped for growth. Collaboration is expected, professional development is encouraged, and above all, we seek to honour the Lord in all that we do.
The terms and conditions, including salary, are set by the New Zealand Area Schools' Collective Agreement. The salary for trained and registered teachers depends on qualifications and experience.
