Job summary

Iris is seeking a construction worker with at least Level 4 qualification or two years of construction experience in Wellington, New Zealand. You will study drawings, select materials, cut and assemble components, and erect framing and cladding for buildings. Additional duties and repairs may be required as needed.

Candidates should be capable of handling timber and related materials, with attention to alignment and quality standards. This is a hands-on role based on site in Wellington.

Qualifications

• Level 4 construction qualification or 2+ years construction-related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Study drawings and specs to determine materials, dimensions and installation procedures.
• Order and select timbers and materials; prepare layouts.
• Cut materials and assemble/nail cut parts.
• Erect framing, panelised systems; roof framing; sub-flooring and floorboards; verify structure trueness.
• Nail fascia panels, sheathing roofs; fit exterior wall cladding and frames for doors/windows.
• Assemble prepared wood to form structures and fittings for installation.
• Cut wood joints.
• May repair existing fittings or work with laminates, perspex and metals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the employer.
