Founding of Head Marketing | Series A Fintech | Auckland based
Build the marketing function from the ground up!
Join a high growth startup who have recently closed their Series A and is expanding across Australasia and the US! This is a rare opportunity to own marketing end to end in a high-growth business, work directly alongside the founders, and grow into leading the function as the team builds out beneath you.
You report to the Co-founder and CEO, sit on the leadership team and work closely with the VP of Sales in each territory. You are based in Auckland alongside our product and engineering team, so what we build and how we take it to market are shaped in the same room. A content marketer reports to you from day one, and you decide how the team grows from there. Agencies handle SEO, answer engine optimisation, paid search and PR under your direction, and AI and agents let a small team ship far more than its headcount suggests.
What you'll do
- Set the global marketing strategy with the CEO and leadership team, with the United States and Australia as priority markets, and turn it into a plan with clear pipeline targets.
- Own marketing's contribution to pipeline and revenue. Agree targets with the VP of Sales in each territory and report progress to the leadership team and board.
- Sharpen the positioning for each market
- Lead and grow the marketing team. Manage and develop a content marketer, and decide when and where the next hires go.
- Own the content engine: thought leadership, research and whitepapers, educational and search content, case studies and product stories. Design it so agents handle research, first drafts and repurposing, and the team spends its time on judgement, editing and distribution.
- Build demand generation for long enterprise sales cycles, including account based programmes into target managers, nurture journeys, webinars and executive events in the US and Australia.
- Direct our agencies across SEO, answer engine optimisation and paid media on LinkedIn and Google. Set the brief, hold them to results and decide what continues.
- Take launches to market with product and engineering in Auckland, from positioning and release communications to sales enablement and in-app messaging.
- Give sales what wins in the room: pitch decks, case studies, battle cards and proposal content, shaped by what the team hears in the field.
- Build the brand and executive presence across private markets, including the leadership team on LinkedIn, industry media and conference speaking.
- Own the marketing stack and data across HubSpot, the website and attribution, so we know which activity creates pipeline and cut what does not.
- Travel infrequently to the United States and Australia to spend time with clients, prospects and the sales team.
What we're looking for:
- 8+ years in B2B marketing, including senior leadership of a marketing function.
- Enterprise B2B experience in financial services, fintech or another regulated domain, where sales cycles are long, buying groups are large and credibility matters more than volume.
- Commercial ownership. You run marketing as a revenue function and can show the pipeline your work created.
- Strategy and execution in the same person. You set direction for the function and still get into the work yourself when it matters.
- A leader who develops people. You have hired, coached and grown marketers, and you want to build a team rather than inherit one.
- AI and agents as your default way of working. You have used them to produce and distribute content at a scale a small team could not otherwise reach, and you know when the output is not good enough to ship.
- Comfort working across time zones, with early or late calls into the US and Australia as a normal part of the week.
- Bonus: experience in private markets, funds, fund administration or wealth platforms.
- Bonus: experience directing agencies across SEO, answer engine optimisation or paid media, with enough fluency to judge the work and the results.
