Job summary

Placements24 is hiring Grocery/Warehouse Assistants for our Christchurch operation. This hands-on role combines grocery floor and warehouse duties in a busy Indian supermarket environment. Location: Sydenham/Christchurch.

Pay NZD 25–28 per hour, with 30–55 hours per week and rostered shifts. You will receive stock deliveries, stock shelves, pick and pack orders, and help customers while maintaining safety and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in retail, warehousing, or pick-pack
• Forklift licence is preferred but not required
• Ability to lift up to 25kg

About the Role

We are looking for reliable and physically fit individuals to join our growing Indian supermarket team in Christchurch. This is a hands‑on role combining both grocery floor and warehouse responsibilities.

Your day‑to‑day duties will include receiving and unloading stock, organising and replenishing shelves, picking and packing orders, and maintaining a clean, safe, and well‑presented store and storage area. You will also assist customers when required and ensure products are handled with care.

Key Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading deliveries (manual handling and/or forklift)
• Stocking shelves and ensuring product availability on the shop floor
• Picking and packing orders accurately and efficiently
• Organising and maintaining warehouse and storage areas
• Assisting with stock rotation and inventory control
• Maintaining cleanliness and adhering to health & safety standards
• Providing basic customer assistance when needed

What We’re Looking For

• Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 25kg
• Good communication and basic written skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Flexible and willing to work rostered shifts
• Understanding of Indian grocery products or prior supermarket experience is an advantage
