A local government authority in New Zealand is seeking a Marketing and Communications Advisor to shape community engagement and enhance its reputation. This full-time role requires outstanding communication skills and a tertiary qualification in marketing or communications. We are looking for a skilled Marketing and Communications Advisor to join our Communications Team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how our Council engages with the community, drives key projects, and delivers a positive public image, through creative communications, engagement and marketing campaigns and tactics.
Reporting to the Communications Team Leader, the Marketing and Communications Advisor will be responsible for developing and delivering strategic marketing plans and activities that enhance and promote the Timaru District Council and its facilities’ reputation in line with the Council’s strategic direction.
You will need to be an outstanding communicator and have the natural ability to build rapport quickly to engage with our people at all levels.
You will have a tertiary qualification ideally in marketing and or communications. You will have demonstrated experience with leading and delivering significant marketing strategies. Your ‘can-do’ attitude and excellent organisation skills are a must in this dynamic and ever-evolving environment. You will be highly professional, reliable and work well under pressure.
This is a fixed-term, full-time role (40 hours per week) to cover parental leave, with the contract ending on 10th April 2026. The salary for this role is $94,063 - $110,663 per annum, pro-rated to the duration of the contract. Check out a copy of the position description here.
